<br />Further Discussion: . Councilmember Dehen stated that the Personnel Committee felt it was <br />important to open these positions to staff, even if there are specific people in mind for them, so <br />people have a chance to work their way up through the system. He stated that he has seen the <br />kind of work Management Intern Gladhill has done for the City and feels he would be a great <br />addition to staff. Mayor Gamec agrees that Management Intern Gladhill has done an excellent <br />job. He also noted that when you can" promote from within, the City doesn't lose a step in the <br />transition. Councilmember Elvig stated that the City has seen some employee turnover lately, <br />which is expensive because of recruitment and training and agrees that the perfect scenario <br />would be able to fill both of these positions internally. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Jeffrey, Olson, Dehen, Elvig, <br />Look, and Strommen. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />MAYOR, COUNCIL AND STAFF INPUT <br /> <br />Filing for Offices <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec noted that filing for elected offices is July 1-15, 2008 and noted that there are 3 <br />Council seats as well as Mayor up for election. <br /> <br />Acting City Administrator <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec noted that during City Administrator Ulrich's upcoming vacation, Finance Officer <br />Lund will serve as Acting City Administrator. <br /> <br />Ramsev3 Meeting <br /> <br />Community Development Director Miller stated that there is a public meeting for the Vision and <br />Values Statement drafted by the Ramsey3 Committee scheduled for Thursday, June 19,2008 at <br />"6:00 p.m. in the Alexander Ramsey Conference Room. <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen stated that she wanted to thank the group of citizens involved in the <br />" Ramsey3 Committee because they have worked very hard. <br /> <br />Mississippi River Corridor Presentation <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that there is a presentation on the Mississippi River Corridor scheduled for <br />June 17, 2008. <br /> <br />Safety Camp <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec noted that Safety Camp is scheduled for June 18 and 19,2008. <br /> <br />Rotary Golf Tournament <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that the Ramsey Rotary Golf Toumament is scheduled for June 25, 2008. <br /> <br />City Council / June 10,2008 <br />Page HoC 12 <br />
