knowledgeable on fire safety /prevention and emergency <br />response. <br />This position is also expected to conduct all internal fire <br />investigations including interviewing at crime scenes. <br />Along with the other activity this position is also <br />expected to meet all the requirements of a firefighter <br />including emergency response. All of the administrative <br />fire responses during the day are handled by the Fire <br />administrative staff made up of the Fire Chief and <br />currently the Fire Marshal. This position is expected to <br />respond to all emergencies as a firefighter. <br />o Can the position remain unfilled temporarily or permanently? <br />Please explain. <br />o The worst case scenario would be for our community to <br />have inconsistent enforcement of public safety codes. <br />The before mentioned relationship established by this <br />position is essential to keep our community advised, <br />educated and complying with applicable codes. <br />o Can the position be filled internally? <br />My recommendation would be to post the Fire Inspector <br />position internally to see if any qualified candidates are <br />available and interested. If not filled internally the <br />position could be posted externally. <br />o What is the impact (i.e., to residents, business owners, <br />employees, and /or operations) if the position is not filled? <br />A complete analysis would have to be done to determine <br />what level of service could be provided by the remaining <br />Fire Administrative staff alone. Items reviewed would <br />include: <br />■ Public Education would most likely have to be <br />reduced /eliminated, along with assistance to <br />
