Re- engineering the code <br />would require a tremendous amount of staff time and <br />effort. <br />a Automating fire code inspections is not practical as on- <br />site visits are required to inspect/verify compliance to <br />codes. Staff continues to utilize electronic <br />communication of forms and documents as well as <br />scheduling, the goal continues to be streamlining the <br />inspection system as much as possible. <br />o Can the duties be reassigned temporarily or permanently? <br />Please explain. <br />a It is my belief that most any administrative duty within <br />any dept can be reassigned. The reason the Fire <br />Inspector position is unacceptable for reassigning is the <br />wide spectrum of the position. The Fire Inspector is truly <br />a professional position and must be handled as such. <br />The duties performed within the business community <br />must be a steady, consistent effort. Establishing and <br />maintaining a positive, professional relationship is <br />essential within the community to maintain a level of <br />confidence and respect for the fire code compliance <br />effort. <br />Another crucial duty of this position is public education. <br />From businesses to schools to daycares to other <br />community groups, this component requires a person <br />who is confident, friendly, energetic and very <br />
