PC CASE # , <br />CONSIDER AUTHORIZATION TO HIRE <br />AN ACCOUNTANT I <br />By: Givonna Reed Kone, Human Resources Manager <br />Background <br />The City's former Accountant I, Angel Hoeffner, submitted a letter of resignation effective <br />Apri128, 2008. On, Apri122, 2008 staff was authorized to .conduct a recruitment process <br />to fill the Accountant I position. <br />A recruitment process was conducted and staff received 58 applications. The selected <br />candidate withdrew from the recruitment process due to medical reasons and staff <br />subsequently conducted additional interviews to fill the vacancy. <br />Staff Recommendation <br />Staff is recommending that the Personnel Committee recommend Denelle Johnson for the <br />Accountant I position. Ms. Johnson's background check and pre-employment drug <br />screen results are satisfactory. With City Council approval, Ms. Johnson's start date will <br />be August 4, 2008 and her starting wage will be $21.18 per hour. Ms. Johnson will be <br />subject to a six month probationary period and all other personnel policies will apply <br />normally. <br />Funding Source <br />This is an existing position and it is included in the 2008 General Fund Budget as <br />approved by the City Council in December 2007. <br />Committee Action <br />Make a motion recommending that the City Council hire DenelleJohnson as the <br />Accountant I at an hourly rate of $21.18, effective August 4, 2008.
