<br />3) Request for Authorization to Cancel Cleaning Contract and Recruit a Part- <br />Time Building Maintenance Worker <br /> <br />Councilmember Look asked if the request for authorization to recruit a planner had been tabled. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated that this item was tabled after very good discussion. He stated <br />that the Personnel Committee decided to table the discussion until a larger budget discussion had <br />happened to make sure this fits into the priorities. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Jeffrey, seconded by Councilmember Olson, to concur with the <br />recommendations from the Personnel Committee and adopt Resolution #08-08-162 adopting an <br />agent of record for life and disability insurance and adopt Resolution #08-08-163 granting <br />authorization to cancel the cleaning contract and recruit a part-time Building Maintenance <br />Worker. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Jeffrey, Olson, Dehen, Elvig, <br />Look, and Strommen. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />MAYOR, COUNCIL AND STAFF INPUT <br /> <br />Assistant Citv Administrator Nelson <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec welcomed Assistant City Administrator Nelson back from maternity leave. <br /> <br />Candidate Forum <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen stated that there will be a candidate forum on Thursday, August 28, <br />2008 at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers. <br /> <br />Possible Chicken Ordinance Changes <br /> <br />Councilmember Strommen stated that she and Councilmember Look have had recent discussions <br />with residents about the possibility of changing the ordinance of keeping chickens. She stated <br />that there was recently a news story about a similar discussion in Mankato, which is something <br />that the Council can take a look at when the City is having this discussion. <br /> <br />Comprehensive Plan Meetings with Met Council <br /> <br />Community Development Director Miller stated that she is looking for two Councilmembers to <br />volunteer to meet with staff and Met Council to move the comprehensive plan forward. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey asked how long of a time commitment these meetings would take. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Miller stated that it would be one or two meetings with the <br />Met Council and a few hours each time. <br /> <br />City Council / August 26, 2008 <br />Page 14 of 15 <br />
