<br />Ordinance Summary <br /> <br />Oak Grove <br />Non~domestic animals: livestock and poultry commonly kept for productive purposes on a far% such as <br />cattle, swine, horses, sheep, goats, chickens and other similar animals. <br />A. On all parcels of land maintaining non~domestic animals, there shall be a roofed or covered <br />structure to protect the animals from the elements. <br />B. On all parcels of land maintaining non~domestic animals, there shall be a secure fence or corral <br />to contain said animals. Said fence shall be setback a minimum of 2 feet from a side or rear lot <br />line to prevent the animals from destroying vegetation from neighboring property. Except that <br />said fence may be set on the lot line by obtaining permission from the adjoining land owner. <br />C. Manure shall be handled and treated in such a manner so as not to create a public nuisance or <br />impact the environment or groundwater. Corrals, pens, stables, and similar enclosures shall be <br />maintained in a manner to minimize fly breeding. <br />D. No non.domestic animal shall be treated cruelly or inhumanely by any person or in violation or <br />Minnesota Statues preventing cruelty to animals. <br /> <br />On lots zoned agricultural you are allowed two non~domestic animal units per acre. On lots larger than <br />2.5 acres, zoned single family you are allowed one non~domestic animal unit per acre. <br /> <br />Coon Rapids <br />. Non~domestic animals may be kept, maintained, or harbored on premises five (5) acres or larger <br />in size. Such animals shall be contained within the property by adequate fencing or other type <br />enclosure. No animal shall be contained upon such property within a distance of 350 feet of any <br />residential structure, except the residence of the owner or keeper of the animal. <br />. No waste material from such animal shall be deposited or left upon any public property, nor <br />private property not owned by the owner or keeper of the animal, nor within 350 feet of any <br />residential structure unless such waste is immediately covered with at least four (4) inches of <br />dirt. <br />. No person who owns, keeps, maintains, or harbors a non-domestic animal shall permit the same <br />to leave the enclosure unless accompanied by and underthe control of the owner or keeper. <br /> <br />Ham Lake <br />. Requires licensing, for horses, donkeys or mules. This would be on lands zoned R-A rural single <br />family residential only. <br />. Minimum acre requirement is three acres. As many as three animals may be kept on a lot or <br />parcel containing three acres. One additional animal per acre may be kept upon lots or parcels <br />of land containing more than three acres. <br />. Fences and enclosures shall not be less than one hundred (100) feet from the road right-of~way <br />line or lines nearest the owner1s land or any road passing though a lot or parcel of land where <br />any animal is kept; they shall be no closer to adjoining real estate and shall have a setback or <br />side yard there from, of at least twenty (20) feet. <br />. Except domesticate pets, no raising, breeding keeping or occupancy of livestock, poultry or <br />other animals shall be permitted on any lands other than those zoned R-A. In land zoned R-A <br />such activities may be permitted on parcels in excess of five contiguous acres, provided the <br />occupant has obtained an an-imal permit.
