Councilmember Elvig asked if North Country <br />Concrete had the necessary expertise to make sure that this is quality concrete that will stand up <br />to the skateboarding usage. Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated that they were given very tight <br />specification and will be constructed specifically for use as a skatepark. . <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Jeffrey, Dehen, Look, <br />Olson, and Strommen. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Ca.se #5: <br /> <br />Accept Bids and Award a Contract for City Project #08-36, 144th Avenue <br />NW Roadway Extension into the Sunfish Lake Business Park <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen left the Council chambers at 8:36 p.m. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Olson stated that the City received 15 bids forthis project ranging from <br />$262,276 to $368,000. He noted that the engineers estimate was $274,000, so the low bid from <br />Erin Contracting isa competitive bid. He stated that a background search has been conducted on <br />them and they have successfully completed similar projects. He stated that the funding for this . <br />project will be from TIF District #10 and he hopes it will constructed yet this fall. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Elvig, seconded by Councilmember Jeffrey, to adopt Resolution #08- <br />08-166 Awarding the Contract to Erin Contracting, Inc. for the City project 08-36, 144th Avenue <br />NW roadway extension into the Sunfish Lake Business Park. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Elvig, Jeffrey, Look, Olson, and <br />Strommen. Voting No: None. Absent: Councilmember Dehen. <br /> <br />Case #6: <br /> <br />2008 Parks Capital Improvements Summary and Work Plan <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen returned to the Council Chambers at 8:38 p.m. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood noted that he had included a spread sheet that was a summary of <br />proposed projects. He stated that he is here to request approval for a drinking fountain with pet <br />attachment for River's Bend Park. He noted that there has been a minor impediment in the <br />fishing pier for the Mississippi River. He stated that the DNR partnership will not occur in 2008 <br />and noted that staff would like the Council to consider some options for this area, including <br />possibly using the money to add steps or an overlook as part of the 2008 storm water outlet to the <br />Mississippi River. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen stated thata problem is that for residents to have access to the river, they <br />:p.eed to go to Anoka, Champlin, Coon Rapids, Elk River or Dayton. He stated that Ramsey has a <br />wonderful stretch of scenic river front and no way to get there.
