<br />Mrs. Dowling stated she does day care for their nine month old grandson who is starting to walk <br />and the Dachshunds have come barking at their heels and she is concerned about the dogs biting <br />her. grandson. She stated they have suggested the Randall's install invisible fencing so the dogs <br />will not cross their property line. <br /> <br />Bev Jess, 8041 171 st Lane NW, appeared before the Planning Commission and stated she has no <br />issues with the dogs. . She stated her children play at the applicant's home and she has never <br />witnessed any aggressive behavior on the part of the dogs. She added the dogs 'do not run at <br />large and the applicants keep the dogs in their own yard. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rogers asked the applicants if their dogs have run out of the yard and onto the <br />neighbor's property. <br /> <br />Ms. Randall replied the two little dogs have occasionally .run out of the yard and added tl;tey are <br />only eleven months old and they are still in the process of training the dogs to stay in the yard. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rogers asked if one of the dogs was in the neighbor's yard approximately two <br />weeks ago. <br /> <br />Ms. Randall replied she did not recall, but the dog did run out by their mailbox. She stated she <br />has done a number of things to accommodate everyone, including only letting the dogs out in the <br />back yard, keeping her windows shut, and not allowing the dogs access to look out the windows. <br />She added she does not believe any of her dogs are aggressive in anyway. <br /> <br />Commissioner Cleveland asked if the applicants are outside supervising the dogs when they are <br />let outside; . <br /> <br />Ms. Randall replied in the affIrmative. <br /> <br />Commissioner Rogers asked if there is a fence in the back yard. <br /> <br />Ms. Randall replied she does not have a fence inthe back yard. <br /> <br />Commissioner, Cleveland expressed concern about the dogs running at large and added she has <br />been bitten by a dog in the past. She stated she understands .the neighbor's concerns and asked <br />the applicants why they do not have a small fenced area for the dogs where they can run but are <br />in a secured area. <br /> <br />Ms. Randall replied it is an aesthetic and fmancial issue for them. <br /> <br />Commissioner Cleveland asked the applicants if they were concerned the dogs could become <br />aggressive if they were not in the dogs' presence at all times. <br /> <br />Ms. Randall stated several of their neighbors who know the dogs and who have had numerous <br />personal interactions withthe dogs have stated they are not at all fearful oftheir dogs. <br /> <br />Planning Commission/September 4, 2008 <br />Page 3 of 12 <br /> <br />P3 <br />
