<br />Page 2 <br /> <br />POLICY ON STREETS BEING TURNED DOWN <br />FOR RECONSTRUCTION <br /> <br />1, The staff should review streets which have rejected the street program annually <br />and ifthey have tidIed, submit them to the P\lblic Works Committee. <br /> <br />2, If the Committee agrees by t\ vote that the stJ'eet has failed, it will be included in the <br />improvement hearings in the fall (beginning in 1990). <br /> <br />3. Res idents of such streets will be given a choice of overlay or new street. <br /> <br />POLICIES ON SIDEWALK REPLACEMENT <br />AS PART OF THE RECONSTRUCTION PROGRAM <br /> <br />1. Sidewalk replacement should be coordinated in areas of street reconstruction when hazardous. <br />The policy is 50% city participation and 50% property owner participation, not to exceed $2.34 <br />per squttre foot fol' adjacent owners. <br /> <br />2. When 75% of a block has existing sidewalk and the area without sidewalk provides access to <br />another sidewalk, the matter shnll be referred to the Council tor a hearing, <br /> <br />POLlCY ON BOULEVARD TREES <br />AS PART OF THE FE CONSTRUCTION PROGRAM <br /> <br />Boulevard Trees: The City of West St Paul will endeavor to protect and to preserve all boulevard trees within the <br />City, Only those trees that have died or have been damaged to the extent that they present a hazard to persons or <br />property will be removed by the City, however, abutting property owners may have their boulevard tree(s) removed <br />by licensed contractors at their own expense. <br /> <br />X:\revPubH~ PLIC Policy, doc <br /> <br />-42- <br />
