The following is a summary of
those results as well as discussion of what possible next steps may be.

The following items are enclosed for your information:

a) Community Center Focus Group results
b) Responses received outside of focus groups

Observations:

The Community Center Focus Groups focused on fmlr major areas (facHities, ,services, financing, and
other community priorities). The Focus Groups resulted in a wide range of respol1ses and served as an
opportunity to provide some b~lckgl'ound' on the potential of construction a community center in the City
of Ramsey.

, After the brainstorming session, attendees were asked to rank their priorities using Hdot voth,g".
Attendees ranked their top three priorities .in each category. First priorities were worth three points,
second priorities were worth two points, and third priorities were worth one point. The results. of this
ranking is reflected in the attached results.

facilities

Although the range of responses was broad, several facilities surfaced as a priority for a project
such as this. These priority facilities included a fitness component, indoor walking tracks
(especially for winter months), a community pool/water park (both indoor and outdoor), skate
park and conference center. It appears that it was important to attendees to have facilities and
services for people of all ages.

Other facilities listed include tennis courts, dog parks, theater/auditorium facilities, ice arena,
climbing walls, and handball courts. Attached to this case is a letter from the Anoka Community
Concert Association (AeCA) expressing a need for s\lch facilities in order for them to continue
their program. There also exists an opportunity to provide a space for a senio.r center. Currently,
our local seniors group meets at Fire Station #1.

S~rvtce~

A major priority of services for potential users included some sort of community education
program that could reach beyond the walls of a community center. ~ome suggested having some
sort of rental program for bikes and other athletic equipment, canoes, etc.

Other high priorities included child care services and cafe/food services. It was also suggested
that this food service could also serve a conference center.

...:45...
