-264-

Central Park Entrance:

This project would be expected to be completed prior to the June 2000 Community
Picnic. Currently staff and the Commission are in the planning stages for improvements
to this comer. For that reason a dollar amount is not referenced as well as a funding
source. It is noted that the entrance does have an economical development aspect as it
relates to out of town visitors using the park as part of their game fair visit.

Pit Latrine for Emerald Park:

This project will be a new initiate for the park system. The purpose is to replace the
rented portable toilets with a concrete vault and wood sided latrine similar to that in the
National Park system. Staff will construct the building at Public Works and locate it to
the site in the spring. Construction will take place during the winter when ice making for
the skating finks are not part of the daily activity. For 2001 it is expected to be funded
from money received by Ace Solid Waste that were donated to the park trust fund along
with monies yet unapplied for from the Commission Lawful Gambling Fund
Improvement Program. Ultimately construction of the facility could be turned over to a
college or high school trade class for construction there with the City purchasing the
materials. Ideally one facility for a different park could be built each winter by staff or
by a school.

Lawful Gambling Fund Improvement Program:

This program was established several years ago to provide for matching funds for
volunteer park improvement projects and has been applied for resulted in successful
projects most years. A $5,000 amount is available in each year in this five-year plan.

i
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

I
i
i
I
