Councilmember Hendriksen replied that at times the Council expects the Commissions creativity <br />to work on an issue. <br /> <br />Mr. Hudson stated that in the business world, there is an assumption that there is a fight answer, <br />but in many of' the city's situations, the right answer needs to be created. <br /> <br />Commissioner Johnson stated that there is not Planning Commission disapproval of the Council. <br />There will always be people distressed over certain issues and thinks it is more individual <br />frustrations rather than the entire body. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec suggested developing a check list, with direction, to be used when working on <br />new issues and then have the appropriate staff to work with the Commission on the issues. <br /> <br />Commissioner Jensen suggested an explanation from the Council as to why the item is being <br />presented to the Commission and what the ultimate goal is. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen inquired if staff had the appropriate information would they have the <br />time and ability to put a checklist together. Also noting that in some instances they may not be <br />given the appropriate information. <br /> <br />Mr. Hudson questioned how the situation should be handled. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen suggested that the Commission Members call whoever they feel <br />comfortable as a resource to get the needed background regarding an issue, because presently <br />some of the informal communications don't exist. <br /> <br />Chairperson Anderson replied that he feels the informal communications have been better, but <br />still think there is room for improvement. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that he does not want to be called to give direction all of the time and <br />suggested that the Commission Members contact staff first and then C-ouncilmembers if they <br />have further questions. <br /> <br />Councilmember Hendriksen stated that, in his opinion, the informal communication between the <br />Commission and the Council would be a good idea. <br /> <br />Commissioner Jensen suggested that the Planning Commission have a meeting with the new <br />incoming Planning Commission Members to introduce them to the process. <br /> <br />Mr. Hudson questioned if he were a Planning Commission member who needed clarification <br />from the Council on an item, who would he contact. <br /> <br />City Council/March 20, 2000 <br /> Page 4 of 5 <br /> <br />-34- <br /> <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> I <br /> ! <br />I <br />I <br /> I <br />I <br /> I <br /> I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br />I <br /> <br /> <br />
