<br />Commission Business <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt called the regular meeting of the Planning Commission back to order at 8:31 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Van Scoy, to direct City Staff to <br />forward the proposed ordinance amendment for Section 9.20.24 (E-l Employment District) of <br />City Code to City Council for adoption, and subject to the correction of the typographical error <br />deleting the word "burbing" and replacing it with "curbi~g." <br /> <br />Motion Carried. V oting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Commissioners VanScoy, Brauer, Cleveland, <br />Hunt, and Rogers. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner Levine. <br /> <br />Case #5: <br /> <br />Staff Update <br /> <br />The Staff Update was noted. <br /> <br />Associate Planner Gladhill stated on Saturday, October 18,2008, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., <br />the City will be hosting a vision session regarding the Comprehensive Plan. He stated <br />Commissioners Hunt and Brauer have met with staff and the Met Council to discuss the time <br />frames and deadlines for updating the Comprehensive Plan. He stated the deadline for the <br />review period is December 31 st and the meeting on October 18th represents an important meeting <br />to keep moving forward with the update; the October 18th meeting will focus on the land use map <br />and MUSA. <br /> <br />Commissioner Brauer stated that the Met Council is looking for an update of the City's existing <br />Comprehensive Plan and this update will prevent the City from having to rewrite the entire Plan <br />from scratch. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Miller stated the next City Council agenda will include a <br />resolution to request an extension for the adjacent community review; this will extend the <br />deadline to the end of the year in order to submit plans and then Met Council will have six <br />months to review the documents. <br /> <br />Case #6: <br /> <br />Zoning Bulletin <br /> <br />The Zoning Bulleting was noted. <br /> <br />Commissioner VanScoy noted the article regarding religious institutions and suggested further <br />review by the City in terms of how it deals with institutions that require assemblies. He added he <br />had no concerns with how the City dealt with St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Church. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Miller stated that Assistant Community Development <br />Director Frolik is on leave for the month of October and requested that any questions be directed <br />to her in Ms. Frolik's absence. <br /> <br />Planning Commission/October 2, 2008 <br />Page 14 of 15 <br />
