2008 Comprehensive Plan
Mn/DOT has conducted a study to determine the feasibility of commuter rail
service in the North Star commuter rail corridor, which includes US 10. The
BNSF railroad tracks through Ramsey are a part of this corridor. Mn/DOT has
concluded that commuter rail service is feasible in this corridor, but issues
regarding the usage of these tracks by a public commuter agency need to be
settled before commuter train operation can begin. Anoka County is studying
locations for commuter rail depots should commuter rail service be established.
A depot site has not yet been selected for Ramsey. A commuter rail corridor
offers another mode of transportation furthering Highway 10 functioning as a
dedicated transitway.
q
F.
