Chair Elvig asked how this has worked out for Mr. Peterson. Assistant City Engineer Himmer admitted that it hasn't worked out too well for Mr. Peterson. Councilmember Dehen stated that ifthere is a project that goes in far away from where there is a sewer connection and there is a desire to have it connected, this area has to fill up to make it cost effective. He stated that he is nervous about using taxpayer dollars for this with the current budget crunch. Chair Elvig stated that this would come from storm sewer funds, not the General Fund. Public,Works Director Olson stated that initially when the proposal came in he showed service to his lot and the lot to the west through his property and the City said you can service that sight but the City wants to service lot 7 in the street so the City can have access to both sides of the street. He stated that when lot 7 is developed then they will take a look at sewer and water. Mr. Young stated that it is not a hardship for him if this is postponed. He noted that next year there is a huge project to redo Armstrong and he felt it may be cheaper to dovetail this into the Armstrong project. He stated that having City services in the street makes the property there more marketable and buildable. Chair Elvig stated that he doesn't think it precludes the City from providing sewer and water services. He stated that Mr. Young makes a good point about ArmstrongCand asked if something could be done. Assistant City Engineer Himmer stated that sewer stops just south of 10 but it will be continued down to the intersection during the Armstrong project. He stated that the water is already to Mr. Young's area. Public Works Director Olson stated that the question is whether the City extends the sewer and water further to the west at the time it is dug up, if Armstrong Boulevard moves forward. No action taken. Case #3: Consider Acquisition of Tax Forfeit Properties City Engineer Jankowski stated that City has received notice that 3 parcels in the City are in the process of going to tax forfeiture and the City can request that they be withheld from public sale so they can be acquired for public purposes. He stated that the first parcels are Outlots A and B at the Ponds of Ramsey 2nd Addition. He stated that staff recommends that this be acquired for drainage, utility and open space purposes. He stated that the third parcel is Outlot C Wildlife Sanctuary 3rd Addition and noted that staff also recommends acquiring this for drainage and utility purposes as well as open space.
