<br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that some of the trail connections had been pushed out to <br />2013, such as connections within the Town Square area. He advised that if a community center <br />does not materialize within the next few. years they would need to look at developing an indoor <br />area for sports and recreation to occur. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns agreed that indoor activity space is needed within the City. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised of the projects planned for 2009 including: $75,000 to <br />begin the construction of the skate park in Alpine Park; a playground for Elm Crest Park funded <br />by the parks trust fund; and drinking fountains. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shryock questioned if it ,would be more cost effective to install the fountains at <br />Riverdale Park this year, as irrigation is already being installed at that park this year, rather than <br />at Woodland Park. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns questioned if the recommendation could be switched or if the connection had <br />already been stubbed out for Woodland Park. <br /> <br />Parks and Supervisor Riverblood advised that they had not yet begun the process for Woodland <br />Park and could switch those orders. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shryock questioned if Emerald Pond had already had the fountain installed and <br />could be removed from the list. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that it had already been installed in Emerald Park and could <br />be removed from the list. He advised that items were open for discussion and would not require <br />motions to be made during the discussion. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that in 2009 concrete restrooms would occur at a City park. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shryock questioned if there was a priority list somewhere that would display <br />which parks were in need for these types of facilities. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that opinions are welcome from the Commission on which <br />parks could be candidates for these facilities. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns thought that Rivers Bend Park would be the best candidate at this time for that <br />service with the amount of traffic that it receives. <br /> <br />Commissioner Erickson questioned the other park that would be on the waiting list for restroom <br />facilities. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that Woodland Green Park would be a good candidate, <br />along with a few others and explained that municipal water would be needed for the locations. <br /> <br />Park and Recreation CommissionlNovember 13,2008 <br />Page 6 of 11 <br />
