Members take office and official action is taken on the incumbent's application for <br />reappointment. A second option would be to amend the City's policy to allow <br />incumbents who are seeking reappointment to continue to serve (and vote) beyond <br />December 31 and until the City Council takes official action on their application for <br />reappointment. <br />Finally, there has been some discussion regarding how further delays to the <br />reappointment process might impact the ability of boards and commissions to transact <br />official business. In speaking with City Attorney Goodrich, a quorum is based on the <br />number of official board or commission members, not the total number of seats assigned <br />to a board or commission; therefore, there should be little disruption in this regard. <br />Action Statement <br />Provide staff with direction regarding whether the City Council would like to continue <br />with our current recruitment process as outlined in the Policy for Appointment Board and <br />Commission Members or consider changes to the policy and process. <br />Attachment: Policy for Appointing Board and Commission Members <br />Reviewed by <br />City Administrator <br />CCWS: 01/06/09 <br />/< <br />
