Absent: None.

APPROVE MINUTES

Vice Chair Shryock stated that on the third paragraph of the first page, they had been speaking
specifically about the island. She commented that the tree removal was for better resident view
of the island from the park.

Vice Chair Shryock commented that in case two, the fourth sentence from the bottom on the fifth
page, she thought that it should be clarified that the restroom project began in 2007 with the
Emerald Pond Park project.

Vice Chair Shryock stated that on page six, the third line from the bottom, boarder should be
border.

Motion by Board Member McDilda, seconded by Commissioner Barr, to approve the following
Park and Recreation Commission Regular Meeting Minutes:

1) Park and Recreation Commission Regular Meeting Minutes dated July 10, 2008.

Motion carried. He thought
that this would be an opportunity for the two Boards to openly discuss mutual in rests and to
look further into projects that could be done together. He advised that with the unfish Lake
Park, as an example, would have an opportunity to conduct an ecological restora ion with the
Boards and interested residents. He advised that there may be a lot of residents t at would be
willing to help out and there are also a lot of non-native plants in that space t at could be
removed. He advised that they could first host an educational workshop and folIo that up with
an activity day in the park.

Board Member Max stated that a lot of folks see green as being important and do n t understand
that by removing buckthorn they are doing something good.

Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that an example of that would be the Villag s of Sunfish
Lake development site. He explained that the existing residents had not wanted t remove. the
Siberian Elm and so there is now an abundance of those invasive trees in that area.

Park and Recreation Commission/August 14, 2008
Page 2 of8
