Absent: None. <br /> <br />APPROVE MINUTES <br /> <br />Vice Chair Shryock stated that on the third paragraph of the first page, they had been speaking <br />specifically about the island. She commented that the tree removal was for better resident view <br />of the island from the park. <br /> <br />Vice Chair Shryock commented that in case two, the fourth sentence from the bottom on the fifth <br />page, she thought that it should be clarified that the restroom project began in 2007 with the <br />Emerald Pond Park project. <br /> <br />Vice Chair Shryock stated that on page six, the third line from the bottom, boarder should be <br />border. <br /> <br />Motion by Board Member McDilda, seconded by Commissioner Barr, to approve the following <br />Park and Recreation Commission Regular Meeting Minutes: <br /> <br />1) Park and Recreation Commission Regular Meeting Minutes dated July 10, 2008. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Absent: None. <br /> <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Joint Meeting - Park and Recreation Commission and Environmental Policy <br />Board <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised the purpose of the meeting tonight was to co duct a joint <br />meeting between the Boards that had not previously met, to discuss cross interests. He thought <br />that this would be an opportunity for the two Boards to openly discuss mutual in rests and to <br />look further into projects that could be done together. He advised that with the unfish Lake <br />Park, as an example, would have an opportunity to conduct an ecological restora ion with the <br />Boards and interested residents. He advised that there may be a lot of residents t at would be <br />willing to help out and there are also a lot of non-native plants in that space t at could be <br />removed. He advised that they could first host an educational workshop and folIo that up with <br />an activity day in the park. <br /> <br />Board Member Max stated that a lot of folks see green as being important and do n t understand <br />that by removing buckthorn they are doing something good. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that an example of that would be the Villag s of Sunfish <br />Lake development site.
