<br />Minutes of Ramsey Focus Group Meeting <br /> <br />DATE: November 11, 1997 <br /> <br />TO: Focus Group Members and City Staff <br /> <br />SUBJECT: November 10, 1997 Organizing Meeting <br /> <br />Prepared by Fred Hoisington <br /> <br />Present: Tom Kurak, Del Fredricks, Chris Dempsey, Terry Hendriksen, John Enstrom, Jim Deal, <br />Mike Sjoquist, Blaine Edmundson, Jerry Bauer, Jeanette Monear, Erika Sitz, Marlys Williams, <br />Paul Rogne, Wayne Jeffries, Margaret Connolly, Cindy Wirz and Fred Hoisington. <br /> <br />The meeting began at 7:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers with the appointment by the City <br />Council of the Focus Group. Fred Hoisington presented definitions of Issues as follows: <br /> <br />WEBSTER <br /> <br />Issue: <br /> <br />"A point, matter, or question to be disputed or decided." <br /> <br />Take Issue: <br /> <br />"To disagree." <br /> <br />HOISINGTON <br /> <br />Public Issue: <br /> <br />"A matter where public opinion is divided and agreement on a direction or <br />course of action has not yet been reached." <br /> <br />The Council, with the assistance of the Focus Group, defined the mission. <br /> <br />The Focus Group meeting then moved downstairs in City Hall to organize. <br /> <br />Each member of the Focus Group introduced him/herself. The mission defined by the City <br />Council and Focus Group is as follows: <br /> <br />. Review what have been identified as issues <br />. Evaluate both sides of each issue <br />. Develop options to resolve each issue <br />. Recommend solutions, where possible <br />. Establish a framework for a strategic plan <br /> <br />Fred Hoisington indicated that background materials are available this evening and each member <br />should take one set before leaving. He indicated that other information felt to be necessary <br />should be identified. Additional information requested includes: <br />
