2) Park and Recreation Commission

'City Administrator Schroeder stated that there were four applications for the vacancy on the Park
and Recreation Commission. After much deliberation, the Park and Recreation Commission ended
upon in a tie vote between two of the applicants. Another Commissioner was polled via telephone
to cast the deciding vote. Ms. Florentius, one of the applicants, is suggesting that City Council
make the decision when Commissions are deadlocked versus polling members by telephone.

Councilmember Peterson felt the vote and decision should be left up to the Commission; leave the
policy as it is. He stated if the Commission chooses to, they can ask the Council to make the
choice.

Councilmember Beyer agreed with Councilmember Peterson.

Council directed Staff to schedule a special Park and Recreation Commission meeting to vote again
to fill the vacancy.

ADJOURNMENT

Motion by Councilmember Peterson and seconded by Councilmember BCyer to adjourn the City
Council meeting.

Motion carried.
