<br />Attachment A <br /> <br />Environmental Policy Board 2009 Proposed Work Plan <br /> <br />As outlined in City Code, the primary objective of the Environmental Policy Board is to <br />review, consider, initiate and recommend to the City Council such policies, plans or <br />projects which will enhance and preserve the natural environment of the City. The <br />Board's scope shall include, but not necessarily be limited to, matters of the preservation <br />of the community forest, water quality, wetland preservation, ground water protection, <br />control of soil erosion and air, noise and light pollution. <br /> <br />The Environmental Policy Board will focus its efforts on the following tasks in 2009: <br />. Research, consider and recommend to City Council potential water conservation <br />measures for implementation. <br />. Conduct a tree planting event(s) in recognition of Arbor Day; utilize event as an <br />educational tool for proper planting, pruning and mulching. <br />. Design, organize and complete a demonstration project in one of the parks to <br />serve as public education. <br />. Research the potential for a compost site within the city and update/advise City <br />Council accordingly. <br />. Encourage citizen awareness and education on environmental stewardship <br />through the Environmental Expo & Tree Sale and other various channels. <br />. Update and publish the wetland buffer guidebook. <br />. Hold a joint meeting with City Council. <br />. Hold a joint meeting with Parks & Recreation Commission. <br />. Address other environmental issues as identified and assigned by City Council. <br />
