<br />.. <br />C.onM<< 1 <br /> <br />Introduction of an Ordinance Repealing <br />Section 2.03~06, Subdivision 3, Public Safety Board <br /> <br />By: Givonna Reed Kone, Human Resources Manager <br /> <br />Background <br /> <br />Per the City Code, the primary objective of the Public Safety Board is to review <br />administrative and/or operational matters relative to the public safety and to advise the <br />City Council of policy matters relevant to the public safety functions in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Recently there has been discussion regarding dissolving the Public Safety Board. The <br />impetus for this discussion is the infrequency with which the Public Safety Board meets <br />and the fact that public safety operations in Ramsey have changed over the years. In the <br />last nine years the Public Safety Board has met only five times. Typically, boards and <br />commissions meet once monthly. <br /> <br />Current Board members are Tom Anderson, Al Pearson and Suzanne Bollman. Chief <br />Way and Chief Kapler are ex:'officio members of the Public Safety Board. All members <br />have been notified that the City Council will consider dissolving the Public Safety Board <br />at the February 10, 2009 City Council meeting. <br /> <br />Funding <br /> <br />There is no funding required to introduce this ordinance. <br /> <br />Staff Recommendation <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the City Council introduce an ordInance repealing Section <br />2.03.06, Subdivision 3, Public Safety Board. <br /> <br />City Council Action <br /> <br />Make a motion to introduce an ordinance amending Section2.03.06 of the City Code, <br />Public Safety Board, to repeal all references to the Public Safety Board. <br /> <br />Attachment: Proposed ordinance amending Section 2.03.06 ofthe City Code. <br /> <br />Reviewed By: <br /> <br />City Attorney ,?- -6 I n <br />City Administrator 1"-. ~ <br /> <br />CC: February 10, 2009 <br /> <br />-21- <br />
