Commissioner Shryock questioned if Parks Supervisor Riverblood wanted to go il1to more detail on the symbol located on the shelter, Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that in the center of the shelter there is a large block that includes a quote, "nature is an infinite sphere, of which the center is everywhere and the circumference nowhere", He stated that the quote was from Pasqual, whom was a mathematician, physicist and philosopher from the Renessance period, and developed many important theories, including contributions to the scientific method. Commissioner Slu'yock questioned the color of the stone. Parks Supervisor Riverblood commented that it would be a beige limestone, with the concrete floor poured up to it. He advised that the interior space of the shelter should be somewhat protected from the elements, 1-1e stated that given the incredible value tbat the city has received ol1m,my recent projects he was hoping that the project would fall under the budgeted amount for both the park and traiI elements. He did not feel it necessary to go into detail on the costs until the bids are obtained, Commissioner Shryock questioned when the bids could be obtained, Parks Supervisor Riverblood explained that with the new Mayor and City Coul1cilmembers he believed that they may want to discuss the proj ect in a worksession setting, so that those unfamiliar with the project could be brought up to speed on the project. He thought that the bidding process could be completed by March, with the park opening up in time for the kids getting out of school. He advised that there would be some challenges within the County Road . Right of Way relative to siting the trail, and explained that the trail outside of the park might not happen concurrent with the park construction. Commissioner Shryock thought that Sunfish Lake was a great addition to the park system and would be a great resting spot when traveling through the park system on bike or foot. Pm"ks Supervisor Riverblood thought that this park would also be beneficial to those who travel to the pm"ks on their lunch breaks tl'om the adjoin industrial area, as they may not currently know that the land is park und not private land. Motion by Commissioner Shryock, seconded by Commissioner LaMere, to approve plans and specifications for Sunfish Lake Park and recomn1end that City Council obtain bids for the park's construction. Motion carried, Voting Yes: Chairperson Johns, Commissioners Hansen, LaMere, and Shryock. Voting No: None.
