<br />Chairperson Johns thanked everyone and congratulated them all on a tllbulous project. She <br />explained that not only does this save the City funds, that they probably would not have had for <br />the project but also thought it would be a great addition to the park. She thought that this would <br />be a stepping stone and would bring more interest to this idea. She thought that this could be <br />done throughout the City in different areas in the future. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood echoed that thank you. He advised that many hours of work had <br />gone into)his project, and everyone perfonued above expectations. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shryock thought that everyone was well spoken and gave great presentations. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hanson thanked the students and wished them well in their education. <br /> <br />Commissioner LaMere questioned if this infonuation would be displayed 011 the three sided <br />kiosks throughout the park. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that five or six of these signs would be low and similar to <br />those used in other parks. He advised that they have not yet had a problem with vandalism and <br />explained that these signs would be going out to bid with Commission and City Council <br />approval, within the near future; and could be on the ground as soon as June of2009. <br /> <br />Commissioner LaMere confinued that the height of the panels would be an appr0priate height for . <br />children to view but also for vandalism to not become an issue. <br /> <br />Motion by Chairperson Johns, seconded by Commissioner Hanson, to approve and include this <br />aspect of the project with the recommendations to the City Council, to obtain bids on the plans <br />and speciflcations. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Johns, Commissioners Hansen, LaMere, and Shryock. <br />Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioners Backous, Barr and Erickson. <br /> <br />Case #3 <br /> <br />Sunfish Lake Park - Approve Plans and Specif'ications <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated that the purpose of this case is to recommend plans and <br />specifications to the City Conncil so that bids may begin for the Sunfish Lake Park project. He <br />stated that within the Parks CIP program, $350,000 of park dedication moneys had been <br />emnlarked for the construction of this park. He explained that the park dedication was generated <br />from the neighboring area to the park. He advised that the trail nem'the park had been on the <br />priority list for quite some time and had also been a top request from residents. He stated that the <br />total cost is unknown; but thought that the park elements would be around $300,000 with a <br />significant cost for the mile or so of trail. He advised that they did some resem'ch and the <br />information was coming back very favorable and thought that some good values could be gotten. <br />He stated that certain bid alternates would be factored into the bid, which could be removed if <br />need be. He explained that those items could be taken out if needed and accomplished at a later <br />date by in-house staff. He stated that discussions occurred at the November meeting that <br />included more specifics on the plans and specifications.
