I 1
AUTHORIZING MINNESOTA DNR AND ANOKA COUNTY FIRE PROTECTION AGREEMENT
By: Dean Kapler, Fire Chief
Background:
Every five years the DNR updates its contracts with local fire departments.. These contracts administer
the fees paid by the DNR to the fire departments during wild land firefighting events. The Anoka County
fire Protection Council met with representatives of the DNR in December 2008 and established a
"county-wide" contract to streamline the contract negotiation process, rather than each community .
having to meet with the DNR.
The attached contract is the final product of negotiations.
Funding Source:
This agreement is for reimbursement for use of firefighting vehicles and firefighters, hourly costs are
covered by the agreement. As with other Joint Powers Agreements and Mutual Aid Contracts, training,
staff benefits, insurances, etc., are the. responsibility of the city.
Staff Recommendation:
Motion to authorize resolution #XX-XX-XXX, to allow Ramsey Fire Department to enter into the Anoka
County Cooperative Fire Protection Agreement with the MN DNR.
Attachments:
Anoka County Cooperative Fire Protection Agreement
Reviewed by: ± ~ !~ /
~~7
City Administrator
Fire Chief ~
CC: 02-24-09
-75-
