<br />ROAD AND BRIDGE COMMITTEE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Road and Bridge Committee conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, January 14, 1997, at <br />the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br />Councilmember Natalie Haas Steffen <br />Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator Ryan Schroeder <br />City Engineer Steve Jankowski <br />Administrative Services Manager Linda Waite Smith <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Councilmember Zimmerman called the regular meeting of the Road and Bridge Committee to <br />order at 5:34 p.m. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Report from Traffic Review Committee <br /> <br />City Engineer Jankowski stated that, as a part of developing the process for reviewing requests <br />for traffic calming measures, a procedure for processing such requests has been agreed upon by <br />the Road and Bridge Committee. The procedure is as follows: a request for any traffic calming <br />measure shall be considered only if made in writing and signed by the petitioners. The request <br />shall also contain the address of all petitioners so that the written findings may be transmitted <br />back to the petitioners. Each request shall be reviewed by a staff committee comprised of the <br />Chief of Police, City Engineer, and Public Works Supervisor, or their designated representatives. <br />A written summary of the staff committee's findings shall be transmitted to the Road and Bridge <br />Committee. The Road and Bridge Committee shall comment on staff s recommendation. <br />Copies of both staff recommendation and Road and Bridge Committee comment shall be <br />transmitted to the petitioners and to the City Council at the next regular Council meeting. If the <br />Road and Bridge Committee concurs with staff recommendations, the approval of the minutes of <br />the Road and Bridge Committee shall constitute approval of the recommendation. If the Road <br />and Bridge Committee is not unanimous with staff recommendation, the Council shall consider <br />the request as a Council case. He explained that the Traffic Review Committee met on <br />December 18, 1996, and reviewed signage considerations at five locations. Each site was visited <br />by the Committee as a whole. Case # 1: A request for "no parking" signs on one or both sides of <br />Riverdale between Tungsten and Sunfish Lake Boulevard was initiated by City staff plus verbal <br />requests have also been received by neighborhood residents. Mr. Jankowski continued that this <br />portion of Riverdale Drive is in an industrial/commercial area.
