<br />2009 <br />Bike Helmet <br />Fitting Clinics <br /> <br />Bike related crashes kill 900 <br />people every year and send about <br />567,000 people to hospital emergency <br />rooms with injuries. Wearing a bike <br />helmet can reduce the risk of head <br />injury by 85%. <br />Safe Kids Anoka County wants <br />to make sure your family has bike <br />helmets. During the months of April <br />and May, we will be traveling around <br />the county distributing and properly <br />fitting bike helmets. The cost of <br />a stylish new Bell(l~) helmet is $10 <br />- and we are happy to fit helmets you <br />already own. Appointments are NOT <br />needed. It's <br />time to stmi thinking about summer <br />fun and making plmls for your kids! <br />The Ramsey Kid's Safety Camp is <br />a great place to stmi the summer out <br />safely. <br />The 8th mUlUal Rmllsey Kids <br />Safety Camp will be on June 23- <br />24,2009. Camp is limited to 144 <br />children and will be filled on a first <br />come basis. Priority registration is <br /> <br />given to Ramsey residents and first <br />time attendees. A registration fee <br />of $30 includes activities, supplies, <br />snacks, lunches, bike helmet, t-shili, <br />mld awards ceremony. Limited <br />scholarships are available. Recreational burning is not <br />to be used for disposal. <br />Recreational fires must consist of <br />clean dry wood, producing little de- <br />tectable smoke. odor or soot beyond <br />the propeliy line: conducted with ml <br />adult tending the fire at all times. Re- <br />spect weather conditions, neighbors, <br />burning bmls and air quality so that <br />nuisance. health or safety hazards are <br />not created. <br />The Ramsey Fire Depmiment <br />suggests a 50 foot minimum distance <br />between the fire site mld mlY stl11cture <br />or vehicle. Ifunable to obtain this <br />distance, in no circumstance shall <br />a fire be closer thml 25 feet to any <br />structure or vehicle. <br />Burning times are Monday <br />through Friday from 6:00 pm to 6:00 <br />mll. Saturday. Sunday mld national <br />holidays from 12:00 noon to 6:00 am. <br /> <br />A recreational fire site is an area <br />of no more than a 3 foot dimlleter <br />measured from the inside of a fire <br />ring or non-combustible border. <br />Burning barrels are prohibited. <br />Disposal of larger quantities of <br />bl11sh, trees, etc. requires ml Open <br />Burning Permit available through <br />the Fire Depmiment. A $25.00 fee is <br />charged for the permit. Any person <br />conducting ml open burn without the <br />necessary permit shall be required to <br />extinguish said fire mld may be cited <br />mld prosecuted under Rmllsey City <br />Ordinance #92-03 (a misdemeanor) <br />mld may be charged the cost of fire <br />suppression services from the city of <br />Ramsey Fire Depmiment at the rate <br />of $300 per hour plus mlY other costs <br />incurred by the city. <br />Please call the Fire Depmiment at <br />763-427-4452 if you have mlY ques- <br />tions or concerns. <br /> <br />www.ci.ramsey.mn.us <br /> <br />3 <br />
