This appendix also contains a listing of the parcels receiving benefit and makes note of the <br />number of sharers being assessed if different titan a sirig,le share, All streets proposed for the <br />program have received a preliminary survey by tho City Engineer and Public Works Supervisor. <br />A post winter survey will be conducted prior, to awarding; bids in June. Appropriate project <br />adjustments will be made if any of the scheduled projects are deemed to be inappropriate for <br />scalcoating due to advanced deterioration, <br />PROJECT QUANTiTIEIS AND COSTS <br />Table l includes a listing of street lengths and pavement areas for each crackseal / sealcoat <br />project. Estimates are also provided for crack tilling material application. rates. Table 2 contains <br />the estimated construction costs for each of these sealcoat projects, Both the sealcoating and <br />crack killing operation will be applied by a contractor selected through the competitive bidding <br />process. <br />Bituminous overlay projects consist caf applying one and one -hall" inch bituminous overlays onto <br />the e;,isting pavement, Tables 3 and 4 proscnt summaries of the project quantities and <br />Qonstructio.n costs, respectively. Prior to they overlay, failed areas will be removed and patched by <br />the City's Public; Works Department, The number of tons required for street patching is <br />estimated on an individual project basis, The rate charged for patching will be $200 per ton of <br />bituminous material which includes material and labor; The existing pavement will be tack <br />coated and a mat hive laid one and one-half inch overlay will be placed by a contractor se.lc;ctcd <br />through the competitive bidding process. Existing driveways will have the adjoining street milled <br />to form a neat joint with the newly overlaid pavement. On streets without curbs, the edge of the <br />overlay street will be shouldered to eliminate the drop off at the.pavement edge formed by the <br />overlay. The shouldering will be done around corners, bends and intersection radii using class.2 <br />shouldering aggregate. The major portion of shouldering on the remainder of the overlays will <br />utilize topsoil which will be seeded, mulched and disc anchored. <br />FINANCING <br />In addition to construction cost, overhead charge's of twenty -Evc percent (25%) will be applied <br />to cover the following service s: <br />Engineering and Inspection 10% <br />City Staff Administration 5% <br />Bonding and Legal 2% <br />Contingencies 8 % <br />The overhead pe.rcentago on the nonassessable project, 1P 09 -01, will be 17% since there is no <br />bonding fees, and contingencies and staff administration time is reduced because of the relatively <br />good condition on these newer pavements. <br />—158— <br />
