go to meetings that they don't want to attend but I talked to many people about it
openly.
At our National Night Cut party, we discussed it with many of the neighbors and they
were supportive of the Idea. A group of us talked to the various Council Members
attended — Matt Look, David Jeffrey and Mayor Camec — and they said they would
support it.
This notion that everything was done against our will, without our Input and in secret Is
complete hogwash,
Myth 5: They Want to close 142'' Avenue just so they can put a park on that site.
Facts; This is such a long -shot that it's not even worth mentioning or considering, but
yes 1 did say that "a park would be nice" while brainstorming out loud in a conversation
with Mr, Creb about what could be done with a decommissioned piece of road. I
mentioned a few other things too but he remembers only this one for some reason — like
a park Is somehow a sinister idea, The city would never even consider this and even if
it did, most of our kids will have kids before it ever happened, Besides, what would be
so wrong with It? in an ase th one and onl reason f a road closure is to redu
cut-through IrIffic a d to Make our n eigh bor ood s fer.
Myth 6; The city said all we ha to d o Is get a petition signed ar7d we can have what
we want.
Facts; If that were true, we wouldn't have sat through 3 years of meetings! The
process was developed years ago and that process has been completed, The Public
Works Department has already conducted all of the meetings, gathered all of the data,
heard all of the debate, made recommendations to City Council and City Council has
approved the temporary closure, It is going to happen with or without Mr. Greb's
"petition,"
In my opinion, he is making prom
ises that he can't possibly keep just to make it appear
as If he has a groundswell of support and to represent that he Is speaking on your
behalf," I strong I caution ou' it would be very u to vonelhe -,m Mike It iii.
items handed out at the meeting
—248 —
