Chief Griffin stated he will work together with Mrs. Helling and present this list to the Budget <br />Committee. <br /> <br />Case #12: Community, City Council and City Staff Support <br /> <br />Chief Griffin explained that public relations is essential for fund raising which allows assistance <br />financially for purchasing equipment and needed supplies that are not budgeted for. He stated the <br />community is the Department's responsibility and if the Department is getting bad publicity, it <br />doesn't help it any. He added it is difficult to keep the morale up when negative comments are <br />made and asked for the support of the Board, Council, Staff, etc. <br /> <br />Chairman Peterson commented to Chief Griffin that he felt that City Council and the Community is <br />supportive of the Fire Department. <br /> <br />Case #13: Joint Relations Improvement between Fire Department and Police <br /> Officers <br /> <br />Chief Griffin stated there are still problems between the Fire Department and a few individuals in <br />the Police Department and that derogatory remarks have been made about the Fire Department in <br />the Police incident reports. Chief Griffin feels that the two departments need to work together; <br />however, his first concern is for the safety of this Department. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cich requested the reports and stated he would help solve the problem if he could. <br /> <br />Case #14: Fire Chief's Quarterly Update on the General Department Status <br /> <br />1) The <br />2) The <br />3) The <br />4) The <br /> will <br /> <br />Ladies Auxiliary has been formed. <br />Department will have an open house. <br />Department will be at the Ramsey Lions Community Picnic. <br />Department has made a commitment to the DNR to get rid of the Gamma Goat. They <br />put the slide unit intended for the Gamma Goat in the 4-wheel drive pick-up truck. <br /> <br />The Department feels the 4-wheel drive pick-up truck will be more versatile than the <br />"Goat". <br /> <br />BOARD INPUT <br /> <br />1) Agenda for the Fire Board Meeting <br /> <br />Chief Griffin stated the Fire Department was asked what they wanted discussed at the Fire Board <br />meetings and that he will continue to do that prior to the meetings to allow input from the entire <br />department. <br /> <br />2) Budget Committee <br /> <br />Chief Griffin will be at the Budget Committee meeting scheduled for May 28, 1991. <br /> <br />3) Special Meeting <br /> <br />Mrs. Helling stated that a special meeting would have to be scheduled for June to deal with the <br />issues not dealt with at tonight's meeting and the Worker's Compensation case. <br /> <br />Fire <br /> <br />Board/May 15, 1991 <br /> Page 5 of 6 <br /> <br /> <br />
