Mr. Otto also suggested that the Commission decide upon a
name for the park presently called Countryside Estates Park.

Merland Otto recommend that the Park Commission take a detailed look at the land in Trot
Brooke and decide upon a trail placement. He also suggested that the City look into
developing its own nursery.

Motion by Chairman Hetland and seconded by Commissioner Prall to recommend to City
Council adoption of the Parks Comprehensive Plan with revisions to the park map as noted
by Merland Otto, following a public hearing.

Further discussion: Merland Otto recommended adding any policies suggested by the Park
and Recreation Commission such as the resilient surfacing of playground equipment.

Motion carried. Absent: Commissioner Roselle.

Case #3 Survey of Resident, Ramsey Parks.

Merland Otto suggested that the Commission develop a park survey form to be given to the
public for feedback regarding what they would like to see done with the City Parks.

The Commission reviewed and tailored an Elk River Park Survey to meet Ramsey's needs.

Merland Otto suggested phone calls and mailings be used to circulate the survey. He also
suggested having the Boy Scouts distribute the survey door to door and retrieving them a
few days later. Another suggestion was to have the survey available at the RYAA sign up
day.

Commissioner Swokowski suggested publishing a notice in the Ramsey Resident informing
the residents that they may be called to do a phone survey or may be given one to fill out.

Chairman Hetland suggested having some of the surveys at the RYAA sign up and then
following up with a phone survey.

Mark Boos suggested that the article in the Ramsey Resident also ask for volunteers to
conduct the phone survey.

Chairman Hetland suggested asking people at the time of RYAA registration if they would
volunteer to assist with the survey.

Mark Boos suggesting having a separate booth for the survey.

PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION / MARCH 7, 1991
PAGE 5 OF 6
