Mayor Ramsey stated that an event in Town Center would be wonderful, but he would like to see
that every effort is made to use our local non-profit organizations like the Lions as vendors.

Ms. Doran stated that they charge fees for vendors, but typically not for non-profits or charitable
organizations. She noted that looking at next year is not a bad idea because it would give them
time to get organized and get vendors lined up.

Mayor Ramsey stated that he would not be opposed to a show every other weekend.

Councilmember Elvig stated that he loves the project and the idea.

Councilmember McGlone asked how quickly the show could be put together.

Ms. Doran stated that typically they start.in the middle of May. She stated that she did not think
they would get many sponsorship dollars for this year and some of the vendors may have made
other arrangements.

Councilmember Elvig asked about possible police costs for the event.

City Administrator Ulrich stated that there is a special events permit process that would need to
be followed and the police would weigh in on the event as part of that process.

Ms. Doran stated that she put together a brief list of things they would supply and the things that
they would ask for from the City. She gave the list to Assistant City Administrator Nelson and
noted that the main thing they are asking for is public support.

Councilmember Wise stated that he feels running the event on Anoka's open weekends is a good
idea.

Councilmember McGlone stated that the people that have attended the car show in the past are
the ones calling them and saying that they would like to do it every wet?kend. He asked if the
City said it wanted the event to run every weekend, whether they would draw more people to
their event than Anoka.

Ms. Doran stated that she feels they would get more, but does not want to be in Anoka's face
with this.

Mayor Ramsey stated that there appears to be a consensus that the Council is in favor of having a
car show every other weekend. He asked for quick information on the farmer's market.

Ms. Doran stated that they feel Wednesday night would be a good night. She stated that they
have spoken to some farmers, but they have already committed to other markets for this summer.
She suggested that the City start planning for next year and noted that their concept is more than
just a farmers market.

Councilmember Jeffrey arrived at 5:50 p.m.

City Council Work Session / March 3, 2009
Page 3 of 17
