CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />The Park and Recreation Commission members noted the following City Council meeting <br />minutes: <br /> <br />1) City Council regular meeting minutes dated August 27, t991. <br /> <br />1.) City Council special meeting minutes dated August 29, 1991. <br /> <br />NQTE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MEETING MINUTES <br /> <br />The Park and Recreation Commission members noted the following Planning and Zoning <br />Commission meeting minutes: <br /> <br />1) <br /> <br />Planning and Zoning public heating and special meeting minutes dated September 16, <br />1991. <br /> <br />COMMISSION BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Joint Ramsey Park and Recreation Commission and Anoko <br />County Tree Board Meeting <br /> <br />Mr. Boos opened the meeting with a description of the agenda and format. Mr. Boos <br />introduced himself and Tree Board Chairman Michael Max. Each of the Commissioners <br />and Tree Board Members also introduced themselves. <br /> <br />Mr. Boos explained the Park and Recreation Commission's role in the City and Tree Board <br />Chairman Michael Max reciprocated and then turned the floor to Ken Holman. <br /> <br />Mr. Holman spoke of the need for a local tree board and itts importance to address tree <br />issues in a timely manner, for instance tree issues has in the past centered around dutch elm <br />disease, now oak wilt, greater effectiveness could have been achieved if tree board <br />functions were available when these problems first emerged. He added if you think oak <br />wilt is bad just wait for the gypsy moth and ash yellow!. <br /> <br />Chairman Max introduced goals and objectives of the County Board. Mr. Bacon prompted <br />discussion on how to set up a local tree board. Kevin Gilbertson spoke on oak wilt and the <br />DNR study on the North Metro which included 3,000 separate pockets of active oak wilt <br />and over 90,000 infected trees, Anoka County had 60,000 of the infected trees. <br /> <br />A review of the Oak Wilt Flyover video and discussion of specific wilt transmission <br />problems ensued. <br /> <br />It was determined that the Park and Recreation Commission and the Anoka County Tree <br />Board adjourn to their respective business. Chairman Max complimented the Commission <br />and City Staff for making the meeting possible. Residents including Jacki Florentius, <br />17601 Marmoset Street N.W., and Alan Dearson, Bowers Drive, also expressed their <br />appreciation for the City's proactive role with tree issues. <br /> <br />The Commission recessed at 8:24 p.m. <br /> <br />Chairman Hetland called the meeting back to order at 8:40 p.m. <br /> <br />PARK AND RECREATION COMMISSION / OCTOBER 10, 1991 <br /> Page 2 of 4 <br /> <br /> <br />
