<br />Chairperson McDilda stated that the Board Members could also take names of interested parties <br />that would like to join the Board. He thought that the shift times could be worked out at the next <br />meeting. He also thought that if additional help was needed for setup, that some of the Board <br />Members could volunteer to assist. <br /> <br />Chairperson McDilda advised that in regard to the poster contest, the school has never opened it <br />to the whole school and usually just chooses a grade level. <br /> <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson inquired about the status of the poster contest. <br /> <br />Chairperson McDilda advised that he has submitted the flyer for approval, but did not foresee <br />any issues with the flyer. <br /> <br />Board Member Max questioned who would judge the event. <br /> <br />Chairperson McDilda thought that the Board could determine that along the way. <br /> <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson advised that he could donate a small amount from the <br />budget for a few small prizes to motivate the kids and get them excited. <br /> <br />Chairperson McDilda thought a possible idea would be to purchase a small tree and have the <br />EPB deliver and help plant the tree at the child's home. <br /> <br />Board Member Bentz questioned if there was interest in the water cycle display from the prior <br />year. <br /> <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson advised that that program had run out of funding and <br />explained that the contact person was going to try to obtain those displays without a volunteer. <br />He stated that he had reserved some information from the MPCA, such as Bernie the Bum <br />Barrel, and a few pull-down displays. <br /> <br />Board Member Max advised that if they are not able to access that display, he could try to <br />reserve the display from the Tree Trust, which is similar. <br /> <br />Case #2 <br /> <br />Sunfish Lake Park Design <br /> <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson advised that the Board had requested information on the <br />proposed Sunfish Lake Park. He explained that Parks Supervisor Riverblood had a scheduling <br />conflict but did provide his PowerPoint presentation for the Board to review. He explained that <br />the intent was to minimize the impact to the environment and to keep the area as natural as <br />possible. He advised of some of the proposed features of the park, such as a picnic pavilion, <br />walking bridge, a canoe rack and launch, and meandering trails. <br /> <br />Board Member Max thought that there was quite a drop-off between the street and lake level. <br /> <br />Environmental Coordinator Anderson explained that is why there is an emphasis on moving that <br />portion of the trail back up along the road, to minimize the impact on the vegetation in that area. <br />He displayed a sketch and the proposed location for the entrance sign for the park, which would <br />be constructed of heavy timber logs and would have a rustic look to it.
