He advised that details are listed on the City website
and links are provided to give more specific information on the different species of trees. He
advised that a presentation would be given by Connexus Energy, regarding conservation tips for
the home; Energyscapes would potentially give a presentation on energy efficient landscaping;
and a possible update on the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Act passed by voters this past
November.

Board Member Freeburg confirmed that the Bell Museum would be attending the event, with a
child friendly display regarding basic conservation tips. He stated that he would provide more
information once he obtained it.

Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that he would be updating information on the
website regarding the presentations and the vendors.

Board Member Bentz questioned if there would be an option for residents to purchase trees to
donate to the Parks Department.

Environmental Coordinator Anderson advised that staff is currently working on a policy
regarding the donation of trees and/or memorial gardens. He advised that the issue would be in
front of the Parks and Recreation Commission at their meeting next week and thought some
direction may come out of that discussion. He suggested that interested parties coordinate a
donation of that type with Parks Supervisor Riverblood.

Board Member Max thought it would be neat to accept donations and pass out a share of the
park, such as an adopt-a-park type program, as it would help to improve the infrastructure of the
community.

Environmental Coordinator Anderson advised that he would speak with Parks Supervisor
Riverblood to gain his thoughts on the matter.

Chairperson McDilda thanked Environmental Coordinator Anderson for the update on the
planning of the Expo. He thought that the Board should utilize the existing information on water
conservation.

Environmental Coordinator Anderson advised that the Board had included the work plan on the
prior display, but due to the unapproved status of the plan at this time he did not feel that it
should be included in the display this year. He suggested making a handout that gives a little
information on the Board for residents instead.

Board Member Max thought that information should be available for residents to access
applications for Boards and Commissions, as there is an open position on the Board.

Board Member Freeburg questioned if it would be allowed by HR to hand out applications at the
Expo, as three interested parties had wanted to join the Board at the prior event.

Environmental Coordinator Anderson stated that he would discuss the option with HR, and
advised that if there is not an issue with that, he would provide a few applications to the Board
for the event.

Environmental Policy Board I March 2, 2009
Page 3 of9
