This appropriation <br />s.3 is available until December 31, 2014. <br />s.a Sec. 6. BOARD OF WATER AND SOIL <br />ss RESOURCES. <br />s.6 (a) $1,500,000 the first year and $5,000,000 <br />s.~ the second year are to purchase and restore <br />s.s permanent conservation easements on <br />s.9 riparian buffers of up to 100 feet adjacent <br />s.io to public waters, excluding wetlands, to <br />s. t t keep water on the land in order to decrease <br />s.12 sediment, pollutant and nutrient transport, <br />s.13 reduce hydrologic impacts to surface waters, <br />s.ia and increase infiltration for groundwater <br />s.~s recharge. The riparian buffers must be of <br />s.16 at least 50 feet unless there is a natural <br />s.1~ impediment, a road, or other impediment <br />s.1s beyond the control of the landowner. This <br />a.i9 appropriation may be used for restoration <br />s.2o of riparian buffers protected by easements <br />s.21 purchased with this appropriation and for <br />s.22 stream bank restorations when the riparian <br />s.23 buffers have been restored. Up to five <br />s.2a percent may be used for administration of <br />8.25 this program. <br />s.26 (b) $1,500,000 the first year and $4,424,000 <br />s.2~ the second year are for grants to watershed <br />s.2s districts and watershed management <br />s.29 organizations for the installation of proven <br />s.3o and effective water retention practices <br />s.3i including, but not limited to, rain gardens <br />s.32 and other vegetated infiltration basins, <br />s.33 and sediment control basins in order to <br />8.34 keep water on the land. The projects must <br />s.3s be of long lasting public benefit, include <br />8.36 a local match, and be consistent with <br />8 <br /> <br />7,500,000' $ 15,937,000 <br />
