Now as we face the first divisive issue of this new council and new

year it appears not only has that vision statement been forgotten but also

directly contradicted by this public hearing and the methods being used to

deal with the wetland buffer controversy.

In case people have forgotten-which many apparently have-that

vision statement reads:

Without compromising private property rights and needs of future
generations, Ramsey will evolve through citizen driven, collaborative
processes that respect the balance and connectivity between its unique
urban, rural and natural environments.

Among the value statements are the following:

1 Maintain land owner rights.

111 Involve all citizens in decisions that impact their lives, property

and neighborhoods through the use of a facilitated process such as

collaborative decision-making.

IV. Embrace a people-centr:red, long-term perspective that nurtures

neighborhood and community interactions and with flexibility to meet Yuture

needs without compromising the needs and interests of current reSidejts.
