List significant travel attractors that the facility connects to including any transit routes. (Projects will
be evaluated on this answer as well as on the population density within one-mile of the project to
determine the potential use of the facility.) If a demand analysis for the facility has been conducted, you
may include it as additional information to help evaluate relative levels of demand.

This trail project will connect existing and planned park facilities along the most prominent river
in North America, and the only National Park in this region. Plus, with the addition of the future
pedestrian crossing over US Hwy's #10 & #169, this trail will link to two downtowns - both with
existing multi-modal transit facilities.

All Other Project Types:

How does the project provide more than a local benefit?

Of the 3,000 mile, 10-state Mississippi River Trail, 2,000 miles are already in place. Several
National sites are along the MRT, including the 72 mile Mississippi National River and Recreation
Area that this trail project is within. It is fully anticipated and understood, that a multi-million
dollar emphasis will be made to connect these gaps, leading up to the National Park Service's 2016
Centennial.

As the MRT rises in prominence as a national recreational destination; reeions and communities
that have safe. well-connected trails. parks and retail opportunities. can exPect to eain
considerable tourism impacts. Clearly sidewalks
and safe bike lanes are a good investment now. These investments, along with the boulevard trees
will continue to appreciate in value as the Region sees increasing populations and transportation
demand. There is little doubt that alternative transportation will become more common as we
progress into the future, thus these enhancements like bike lockers, will benefit increasing
numbers of multi-modal travelers.

04/03/2009
