<br />Councilmember McGlone stated that he was suggesting that everyone coming out can only go <br />right and have it aligned better. He suggested some kind of acceleration lane for trucks. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Olson stated that staff will draw up these plans for consideration. <br /> <br />Case #6: <br /> <br />Authorize Request for Proposals (RFP) for Geotechnical and Construction <br />Testing Services <br /> <br />Assistant City Engineer Himmer stated that staff is seeking authorization to prepare an RFP for <br />geotechnical testing services. He stated that the City spends about $63,000 per year with the <br />current firm. He stated that the two-year relationship with them hasn't been bad, but in light of <br />conditions in the economy, they are requesting authorization to see what else may be out there. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen asked why the City isn't waiting until it is needed. <br /> <br />Assistant City Engineer Himmer stated that the construction season starts in April or May. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen stated that he thinks it is good to do it, but thinks you need to give them <br />more time than March 6, 2009. <br /> <br />Assistant City Engineer Himmer stated that his intent was to give them 2 weeks to respond, but <br />he can extend it to 3 weeks. <br /> <br />Motion by Chair Elvig, seconded by Councilmember McGlone, to recommend that the City . <br />Council approve an RFP for geotechnical and construction testing services, and authorize staff to <br />district it to select consultants, giving them three weeks to respond. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Elvig, Councilmembers McGlone and Dehen. Voting <br />No: None. <br /> <br />COMMITTEE INPUT <br /> <br />Identify Traffic Concerns Relative to South Parking Lot of Ramsey Elementary School <br /> <br />Chair Elvig explained the traffic situation that he has seen at the school. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Olson stated that he thinks the City should go talk to the principal because <br />the City cannot solve the problem for them because most of this is on private land. He stated that <br />the City would basically offer our assistance in approaching the County. <br /> <br />Chair Elvig stated that the school has crossing guards and a traffic director but he sees what <br />happens outside of the school and the stacking is going all the way out onto Hwy 5, which has no <br />parking. He stated that northbound traffic cannot turn in because it is already stacked up from <br />south traffic.
