Mayor Ramsey asked if there was a consensus to go with this proposal.

Councilmember Jeffrey was in agreement for at least a year.

Mayor Ramsey added that if it's not working out and then we take it over the second
year, that's not really right either.

Councilmember Dehen suggested it should be put out for an RFP the second year. He
did not want to tell Mr. Robinson that he will be the exclusive person. He really felt that
after a year it should be put out for an RFP.

Councilmember Look stated he did not feel we are signing an exclusivity contract - we
have reservations - we have expectations. If we start getting calls or complaints, we have
to respond to them.

Mr. Ulrich stated staff would draft a contract with a termination clause.

Assistant City Administrator Nelson asked if Council was interested in redesigning the
newsletter.

Discussion ensued relating to the design. Councilmember Look suggested introducing
limited changes at this point. Mayor Ramsey suggested maybe we should invest a little
bit of money to get this laid out. Councilmember Dehen stated that there are two rivers
within the City and we should exploit them; he is not in favor of the cattails and weeds
logo and thought it would make sense to have some redesign of the artwork. It was
suggested to ask for two to three different graphic designs and let staff pick what they
like.. Councilmember Look stated he is not in favor of paying for anything until we get it.
Mayor Ramsey asked what we would be willing to pay. Discussion ensued relating to
what we need - templates, headers, possibly seasonal headers, and area artists and that it
could be done as a contest.

Ms. Nelson stated that there has also been a desire to redesign the City's website and staff
has been looking at some options. She showed the current site and talked about making
the site more business-like. Discussion ensued relating to getting ownership to the City
of Ramsey.org and the City of Ramsey.com etc. We would talk about changing the name
of the web site but to keep the login name in place so we do not have to change all the
business cards, etc.

Mayor Ramsey felt this is a redesign that needs to get done. Ms. Nelson presented some
costs and stated that she thought we would spend about $5,000 to get it done.

Councilmember Jeffrey talked about the web site redesign for the college and if Ms.
Nelson can get it done for $5,000, that's a great price.

Councilmember Look inquired as to what the funding source would be to which Ms.
Nelson stated we would flush that out and bring it back to Council.

City Council Work Session - June 2, 2009
