<br />Councilmember Dehen suggested maybe the committee could get agreements with the <br />property owners. He stated he did not like the idea of telling them we are not enforcing <br />the paving requirement - but we could say that City Council is looking at getting the <br />highway frontage cleaned up and get a commitment of what they will do and when. <br /> <br />Ms. Miller stated that because parking is not delineated they do not have drivelines for <br />customers and that causes public safety issues. She added that Code requires you to have <br />a certain amount of parking spaces - but these businesses do not. <br /> <br />Mr. Gladhill stated there has been discussion about the amount of inventory on site. <br /> <br />Councilmember Look mentioned Frey's and the fact that they do not have enough space. <br /> <br />Ms. Miller stated that at some point, businesses are told they have to meet parking <br />requirements. <br /> <br />Councilmember Look stated that Frey's will not fit into this regardless of what we require <br />- twenty feet back from the right-of-way is impossible. <br /> <br />Mr. Gladhill stated that what created some of this is the fact that we did not always have <br />the 20-foot setback requirement; the front setbacks were different years ago. They could <br />claim they are legal nonconforming. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen. stated he knows they are parking out on the grass but he thought <br />they had parking delineated there. <br /> <br />Mr. Gladhill stated they would be considered lawful nonconforming. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen stated he is not advocating anyone, who has been previously <br />approved, to be told they are not conforming now but he was concerned about the <br />standards. <br /> <br />Mayor Ramsey noted that he would serve on the subcommittee and that Councilmember <br />Dehen also expressed interest. Councilmember Wise also agreed to serve. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Miller stated her department would put together a list <br />of the properties we know for certain are noncompliant. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen mentioned the City's salt storage structure again and stated that <br />Eden Prairie has one and it looks good. <br /> <br />Mayor Ramsey scheduled a meeting for 10:00 a.m., Thursday June 11, to discuss the <br />businesses and ways to meet with the property owners. <br /> <br />City Council Work Session - June 2, 2009 <br />Page 5 of 13 <br />
