<br />Senator Jungbauer stated that he has been involved with this concept since 1998 and he looked at <br />tonight'-s meeting, because the market has changed, as discussions sUrrounding things like; what <br />are some things you want to attract to your City and what are some things you have seen in your <br />travels around the world that you might like to see here. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGlone stated that he thinks this is an exercise in -generalities, not creating a <br />new plan, but a new guideline. He stated that the original plan didn't work, partly because of the <br />economic situation, and now there needs to be a good hard look to see what may work in this <br />new economic situation. <br /> <br />Mayor Ramsey directed the group to break into small groups at 7:48 p.m. The large group <br />reconvened at 8:42 p.m. <br /> <br />Mayor Ramsey reviewed some of the ideas raised in his small group. <br /> <br />Assistant City Administrator Nelson reviewed some of the ideas raised in her small group. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich reviewed the ideas raised in his small group. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated that what they have heard from bankers and developers that have <br />come in recently is that the 70-acre parcel is very unique in the metro area. He stated that he <br />feels the City should keep that as flexible as possible as long as we can to figure out the <br />destination draw that the City potentially has, because of this land. <br /> <br />Commissioner Cleveland stated that she feels that there needs to be some work done to change <br />the perception that the public has about Ramsey. <br /> <br />Mayor Ramsey stated that he thought it was strange that there couldn't be a drive up window in <br />the original plans for the Town Center. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated that he does not think they were completely banned, but that the <br />City wanted more control over where they went. <br /> <br />Community Development Director Miller noted that it was also limited to keep certain areas <br />pedestrian friendly. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig gave an example from the International Shopping Center Convention <br />about a concept used in Holland that brought Cirque de Soleil in for a few shows a year that <br />really brought people from all over. He noted that they won an award for their design plan. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGlone stated that the City already has the Game Fair, which although it isn't <br />located in the Town Center, brings a lot of people in to the City. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated that they will summarize tonight's discussion in a staff report <br />and send it out to everyone.
