Action:

Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee.

Case #5:

Consider Driveway Culvert Policy

Background:

Some aspects of the old policy were reviewed and staff feels the maintenance should be the
homeowner's responsibility.

Staff also noted that the City currently offers a program that if culverts need to be replaced the
City offers them at City costs. This provides a benefit for the property owner and also
encourages some uniformity in the types of culvert installations throughout the city.

Action:

Direct staff to prepare a driveway culvert policy which requires property owner maintenance and
which does not include the hiring of the City to provide maintenance services.

COMMITTEE INPUT

Staff asked for some direction on what the Council expects for the maintenance of the Town
Center.

It was discussed that picking up garbage, knocking down the piles, and mowing 10 feet from
curb for the time being and that staff come back with ideas and potential costs for the next
meeting.

Reviewed by:
Deputy City Administrator/Director of Community Develop
Public Works DirectorlPrincipal City Engineer
City Engineer
Assistant City Engineer

CC: 7/14/09
