<br />CA # \ \ <br /> <br />2009-2012 SAFE AND SOBER CAMPAIGN <br />AGREEMENT WITH STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />By: Captain Timothy Dwyer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />The police department has participated in the State of Minnesota Safe and Sober <br />Campaign for several years now. Grant money is again available to local <br />agencies to conduct education and specific enforcement in the area of drunk <br />driving, seatbelt, and speeding. Coon Rapids PO has applied for the 2009-2012 <br />grant on behalf of all law enforcement agencies in Anoka County. There is <br />significant more money available when agencies band together on applications. <br />Sufficient money is available to cover all overtime costs associated with Ramsey <br />PO officer participation. The State is now asking for a 3 year agreement and they <br />in turn would ensure grant money is available to participating agencies from <br />October 1, 2009 and running through September 30, 2012. <br /> <br />Ramsey PO has been active in this program, putting officers on state paid <br />day/night overtime shifts, which have resulting in increased traffic enforcement <br />citations and arrests, making our city a safer place to live. <br /> <br />RAMSEY PO SAFE AND SOBER STATS for 2008: <br /> <br />Hours worked: 70 <br />Pre-wave seat belt use rate: 79% <br />Post wave use rate: 83% <br />Seat belt tickets: 45 <br />Speed tickets: 53 <br />Speed Warnings: 70 <br />180 vehicles stopped <br />OAR: 3 <br />Drug arrests: 1 <br />Warrant arrest: 1 <br />Tow without custody: 1 <br />Custodial arrests: 2 <br />OWl: 1 <br /> <br />RAMSEY PO SAFE AND SOBER for 20,09: <br />Hours worked so far: 48 <br />Pre-wave usage: 79% <br />Post-wave usage: 87% <br />117 vehicles stopped <br />38 speed warnings <br />11 speed citations <br />1 DWI <br />2 dar's <br />1 warrant <br />2 custodial arrests <br />
