<br />RESOLUTION #09-XX-XXX <br /> <br />RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING EXECUTION OF AGREEMENT WITH THE <br />MINNESOTA DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR 2009,2010,2011, <br />2012 PARTICIPATION IN THE SAFE AND SOBER COMMUNITIES PROGRAM <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department has in previous years <br />participated in the Minnesota Safe and Sober Project, receiving grant money for <br />the education and enforcement of DWI, Speed, and Seatbelt laws. In order to do <br />this, the City'of Ramsey has entered into contractual agreements with the State <br />of Minnesota to receive grant money. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Ramsey Police Department would like to participate in the <br />2009 Safe and Sober Campaign. This 3 year grant is being prepared by the <br />Coon Rapids Police Department of which the Ramsey Police Department would <br />like to partner with. If awarded the grant, all the police departments involved <br />would receive sufficient funding to cover officer overtime expenses to participate <br />in the required Safe and Sober wave sessions. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State of Minnesota is requiring a resolution from Council <br />authorizing the execution of an agreement with the Department of Public Safety <br />for the 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 participation in project SAFE AND SOBER <br />COMMUNITIES to commence October 1, 2009 through September 30,2012. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />1. That the Ramsey Police Department enter into a grant agreement with <br />the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Traffic Safety, for <br />the project entitled SAFE & SOBER COMMUNITIES during the period <br />from October 1,2009 through September 30,2012. <br /> <br />2. That the Ramsey Chief of Police is hereby authorized to execute <br />such agreements and amendments as are necessary to implement the <br />project on behalf of the Ramsey Police Department in cooperation with <br />the Coon Rapids Police Department. <br /> <br />The motion for adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />, and upon vote being taken thereon, the <br /> <br />following voted in favor thereof: <br />
