TH 47 Transportation Analysis
Public Meeting Comments
August 24, 2006
Lord of Life, Ramsey, MN

Below are the comments received at the public meeting on August 24, 2006. Comments
include those received at the meeting and those sent via mail or email. Comments in
italics were received after the September PMT Meeting.

Alh!nments

Change TH 47 to four-lanes to 16ih Avenue.

Expand TH 47 tofour lanes through Anoka and probably Ramsey.

Try and have more divided medians, cemtinuous left turn lanes in the center, and good
shoulders along ",\lith good access consolidation. Afour-lane ofTH47 would be the best
but due to funds and property acquisitions 1 knolY this will not be feasible.

TH 47 should be four-lanes to St. Francis!

Turn TH 47 back to city street.

Turn back TH 47 to a city street.

Change TH 47 to a city street.

ljust read the meeting minutes andl\'m a bit disappointed in what 1 saw. Clearly, the
main problem with the road is that there is too much traffic for the current design.
Adding more lights, signs, and turn lanes will not solve the problem andwe'll be back
discussing it again in aj(n,jI years. Do people forget that the road was redone 5 years
ago and it only slightly improved (possibly made worse) the current situation? 1 agree
that we definitely need more bike paths and better turn lanes, but adding lights and
slowing down the traffic speeds will make things worse. The main problem causing the
congestion is the intersection ofCSAH 116/TH 47. Not enough cars get through there
quickenough, thus traffic backs up all the waypass the fairgrounds, into Anokaandonto
TH 101 Not that is a safety hazard. The road needs to be widened at the intersection so
two-lanes of trajjlc (ie double the amount of cars) can move north and south through the
intersection. If you make the roadfour lanesfrom south ofCSAH 116 up to Alpine
Drive, you helped the afternoon traffic a. TON. If you really want to get serious, . remove
the fairgrounds and the houses in between TN 10 and CSAH 116. Clearly, Ramsey has
built too many townhouses in this area and the roads can't handle the influx of cars;
Everyone has their own little sign or change they want the will make their life easier. But
this is b;gger then that and Mn/DOT and Anoka County needs to step up to the plate and
do something positive that will help everyone who drives in this area. How about a plug
to get rid of that ugly recycling center!

Can't see how doing anything to Dysprosium will help. Need to fix TH 47 and TH 10.

P25
