<br />Case #3: <br /> <br />NETWORKING EVENTS <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan presented Case #3 <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan presented background on different networking <br />events that occur throughout the year, suggesting that EDA funds would be better suited for use <br />in paying the required registration fees. A marketing budget for the summer could be up to <br />$3000.00 or 6 events. <br /> <br />Discussion ensued as to a policy and guidelines for using EDA funds and selection of teams for <br />these events. Starting with 6 events this year and should include a mix of Staff, EDA, Local <br />Business Owners and Council Members to attend the events as a team. <br /> <br />Action: Economic Development Coordinator to assemble a list of Events and a list of Local <br />Business Owners and coordinate teams for those events. <br /> <br />Motion by Member Steffen, seconded by Member LeTourneau, to have the Economic <br />Development Coordinator coordinate up to 6 networkinglmarketinglbusiness retention events <br />this SummerIFall and to send City Staff, EDA Members, Local Business Owners and Council <br />Members to events as a team to promote business retention and marketing. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting No: None Absent: None <br /> <br />Case #4: <br /> <br />STAFF UPDATE <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan presented Case #4 <br /> <br />New Business Prospects: Martin Manufacturing, formerly Martin EDM is still on track for a <br />business expansion once the economy settles down a little bit. <br /> <br />Business Grand Opening: n's Pizza is moving into the old Mansetti's space, they are moving <br />a little bit slower but they still are targeting a late June or July move in date. V One Office <br />Suites had its grand opening on June 4, 2009; Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan <br />attended the grand opening. <br /> <br />Business Communication Initiatives: Business Appreciation Day on August 18, 2009, <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan hopes to have the invites going out by the week of <br />June 23rd. Costs so far are averaging around $90.00, last year the event cost $115.00 fro Golf <br />and dinner, and $130.00 for hole sponsors. Staff will attempt to do the event for $90.00 per <br />person and hope to still provide some commemorative item for the event. For 2009, hole <br />sponsorships are being reduced to $99.00.
