Consent 10") <br />CONSIDER A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A POLICY REGARDING CITY <br />. COUNCIL ACCESS TO PERSONNEL DATA <br />By: Givonna Reed Kone, Human Resources Manager <br />Background <br />At the June 23, 2009 Personnel Committee meeting, committee members expressed a <br />desire to be notified regarding certain sensitive personnel matters such as those that might <br />result in a suspension or arrest. <br />Per the City Code, the city administrator has been granted authority to address all <br />personnel matters and to make recommendations to the City Council regarding hiring and <br />terminating employees. Per direction from the Personnel Committee, staff has drafted the <br />following policy language for consideration by the City Council and for inclusion in the <br />City's Administrative Policies Manual: <br />In order to keep the City Council apprised of sensitive personnel matters such as <br />suspensions or arrests that could potentially have a significant impact on the organization, <br />upon certain matters being addressed by the city administrator or his designee, the city <br />administrator will provide the full City Council with a confidential written explanation of <br />the situation and the final disposition of any disciplinary action. <br />Funding Source <br />No additional funding is required to implement the proposed policy <br />City Council Action <br />Consider making a motion to adopt the process outlined above whereby the city <br />administrator will provide the full City Council with a confidential written explanation of <br />the situation and the final disposition of any disciplinary action. <br />Reviewed By <br />City Administrator LD <br />CC: July 28, 2009 <br />
