As far as industrial storage on the outside - Highway #10 is <br />the issue. <br /> <br />Mr. Gladhill stated that one of the big things for outside storage is screening. We want <br />some clarification on what is acceptable. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated there are differences in industrial parks and we need to be <br />more creative with what is allowable depending on the area. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGlone stated that he is more in favor of rules across the board - then <br />everyone has to play by the same rules and it's easier to enforce. He added that screening <br />is a no-brainer and offered some different scenarios. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig talked about a current business and that they have some screening <br />but you can see through it. <br /> <br />Mr. Gladhill stated that some sites will have a degree of lawful non-conforming - <br />existing sites are protected. <br /> <br />Mayor Ramsey stated that ultimately we will have to make the decision but there is no <br />reason to not invite the Planning Commission and get their opinion. <br /> <br />Councilmember Look stated that his concern is we have been around and around and <br />around on this topic. When we invite the Planning Commission, it's actually like we are <br />asking them to do more and then we have to make the decision and I do not want to hear <br />that we do not listen to them. We do listen but we as the City Council have made a <br />decision and there are some things that have to be taken care of. When we decide <br />something, we have to put it into effect. He felt that the Planning Commission is looking <br />at themselves rather than at the City. It's not always a fun decision. He felt since it <br />would be a Council decision - there would be no reason to bring the Planning <br />Commission in again. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGlone stated that we are abating 2 percent of the community that <br />needs it. We will be more responsible to the people who are abiding by the rules - and <br />reiterated it's easier to apply the rules evenly. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig commented on how often we bring a case to the Planning <br />Commission and get some good ideas. <br /> <br />Mr. Gladhill stated that we did get good ideas from the Planning Commission. One of <br />their concerns was limiting the number of vehicles. It seemed fair to go by the size of the <br />parking pad. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated he is an advocate of this.
