<br />Councilmember Look stated that we have canceled the Town Center plan but there are <br />areas out there we need to tailor the plan to get some money. We need to figure out how <br />we can position this to be not just like every other development out there. <br /> <br />Mr. Ulrich stated that we need to be able to answer very basic questions - such as what <br />parcels are for sale, how much are they . .. We need to have a foresight in making this <br />area different and unique rather than responding haphazardly. <br /> <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated he is in favor of a steering committee and he wants smart <br />people on the committee who want to be there. We need to launch it and find interesting <br />people who want to serve but we also have to be quick to move this forward. <br /> <br />Mayor Ramsey suggested three Councilmembers. two EDA members. and two Planning <br />Commissioners and then maybe John LeTourneau, Brad Lano, Jim Steffen. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGlone asked about inviting some developers. <br /> <br />Ms. Nelson stated that John LeTourneau and Christine Williams from the EDA expressed <br />an interest in serving on this committee. <br /> <br />Councilmember Elvig stated he would like to be on the board - Councilmember Look <br />stated he does not have to be - Councilmember Wise. stated he would like to serve, <br />Councilmember Jeffrey stated he would like to serve and Councilmember McGlone <br />stated he would like to be on the board as well. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGlone bowed out - the three Councilmembers who will serve are <br />Elvig, Jeffrey and Wise. <br /> <br />Mayor Ramsey asked if there should be a couple Planning Commission members on the <br />committee. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGlone felt that the Planning Commission is more the "nuts and bolts" <br />and this is more a business plan. <br /> <br />Mayor Ramsey stated the two from the EDA would be John Letourneau and Christine <br />Williams. <br /> <br />Other names mentioned were Jim Steffen, Martin Schindel, Don Kveton, Bonnie <br />Thompson, Alena Hunter, Will Thompson, and Al Greenwald. <br /> <br />Councilmember McGlone cautioned not to end up with p~ople who are hard-core to the <br />plan that won the award. <br /> <br />City Council Work Session - June 30, 2009 <br />Page 15 of17 <br />
